OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
After serving his articles with Friedland Hart and Partners, spending two years compulsory military training as legal officer with the South African Medical Services and serving as professional assistant at Shapiro and Partners, he founded EY Stuart Attorneys on 1 April 1988.
Elmo is the Managing Director of our Company and specialises in sectional title law, high court litigation, commercial law, trust law, administration of estates and family law.
JO-HANNA (ONA) NELL
Ona Nell specialises in conveyancing, notarial work and commercial matters. Ona joined the company on 1 February 2003. She completed her articles at Haasbroek & Boezaart during 1993 and was admitted as attorney, conveyancer and notary in the High Court at Pretoria on 15 February 1994.
Ona previously practised for her own account under the name and style of Ona Nell & Associates Incorporated before entering into an association agreement with our company in August 2002.
On 1 February 2003, Ona joined our professional team on a full-time basis. Ona and her dedicated team specialise in township developments, sectional title schemes, transfers, bond registrations and cancellations, and related conveyancing matters. Ona has served as a Director and Shareholder of EY STUART INC. from 1 September 2006.
BIANCA VAN WYK
Bianca van Wyk obtained her LLB degree at the University of Pretoria in 2010 and commenced her articles in 2011 at FourieFismer Incorporated. Bianca was admitted as an attorney in the High Court of South Africa on 31 May 2013 and was subsequently appointed as a professional assistant and thereafter an associate, gaining valuable experience in general litigation (high court and magistrate’s court), child law, third party compensation law, contract law, legal costs and drafting. Bianca obtained her LLM degree in Mercantile law at the University of Pretoria in 2016. She was appointed at EY STUART INC. in October 2017 and now serves as Director and shareholder of our firm.
Bianca’s main interest is litigation, but she is also actively involved in our trust and estates department.
Hannelie Hattingh joined our company as a professional assistant in the Conveyancing Department in March 2015. Hannelie was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer on 13 January 2011 after serving her articles with Greeff Attorneys.
Hannelie was admitted as a notary public in October 2011 and spent 10 years gaining valuable experience in the field of conveyancing and property related matters ranging from transfers (normal, estate, liquidation and Tax Administration Act transfers), sectional title (transfers, opening of schemes and extension of units), subdivisions and consolidations, bond registrations (ABSA, ABSA Private Bank, Standard Bank and First National Bank), bond cancellations, servitudes and antenuptial contracts.
ANNELIZE MJ JOUBERT
Annelize Joubert was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa on 20 March 2006 after having served articles with our company from 1 October 2004.
Annelize was subsequently appointed as a professional assistant, where she currently specialises in high court and magistrate’s court litigation.
Quintin Badenhorst obtained his LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in 2010. He joined EY STUART INC. in 2018.
He specialises in High Court and Magistrate Court litigation, Commercial Law and Debt Collection.
LESLIE A. STUART
Leslie Stuart obtained his B.COM and LLB degrees at the University of Pretoria in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Leslie commenced his articles of clerkship at EY STUART INC. in January 2016 under the supervision of Elmo Stuart, while completing his LLB degree. Leslie completed law school during 2017 and was duly admitted as an attorney in the High Court of South Africa on 28 August 2017. Leslie has gained experience in general litigation (magistrate’s and high court), debt collection, administration of deceased estates, sectional titles, commercial litigation and drafting. Leslie is currently appointed as a professional assistant within the sectional title and litigation department.
Leslie has a keen interest in sectional titles, commercial and company law.
Ziegh obtained his LLB degree at the University of the Free State in 2017. He also qualified as a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) in 2019. Ziegh was admitted as a legal practitioner, to practice as an attorney, in February 2020. His field of interest is legal costs and estate planning.
Mienke obtained her LLB degree in 2017 through the University of Pretoria. She completed her articles of clerkship at Friedland Hart Solomon & Nicolson and was admitted as a legal practitioner, to practice as an attorney, in March 2019. Mienke then joined our company in April 2019 and has great interest in general litigation and family law matters. Her interest in litigation and operations of our courts, specifically the Gauteng Division of the High Court, makes her the perfect choice for other firms seeking assistance in correspondent matters.
SUPPORT AND SUPPLEMENTARY STAFF COMPONENT
Tiana Wepener is our senior bookkeeper and practice manager and is the backbone in ensuring the smooth operation of EY STUART INC. Tiana joined our company in 1993 — more than 25 years ago.
We also have, on average, 3 to 4 candidate attorneys who are exposed to all facets of the law to ensure that they have sufficient familiarity to become respectable and well-educated professionals. They, in turn, assist the professional assistants to effectively serve our clients.
Our committed and experienced secretarial staff in both our litigation and conveyancing departments, our receptionist, filing clerks, messengers and cleaning staff all form an integral part in the smooth running of our daily business at EY STUART INC. As we believe in empowering people, we offer effective staff training and management to ensure that our personnel gain expertise in their diverse fields.
